New Students
Randolph-Macon is requiring all new students to complete the online College Alc Course prior to August 1st.
Students with Alcohol Policy Violations
Randolph-Macon is also requiring all R-MC students sanctioned through the judicial process to complete the online College Alc Course prior to their alcohol education session(s) at the Counseling Center. If a student has taken the College Alc course for orientation, or as a part of another education program, s/he will be required to take the College Alc Refresher Course when the judicial process mandates participation in an alcohol education session. Students with more serious alcohol violations will be required to complete both the online course or as appropriate, the refresher course and an accompanying workbook; the workbook will be distributed during their first alcohol education session.
College Alc is a comprehensive online alcohol education program that combines the latest research on college student drinking together with a technologically advanced format. The course is a combination of alcohol education, guided reflection, and personalized feedback. The course consists of 4 lessons with a quiz at the end of each unit. It should take approximately 1 hour to complete. College Alc was developed with funds from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and has been rigorously evaluated.
College Alc will help students explore the role of alcohol in the collegiate experience; it will also help educate students about the importance of making responsible choices, how to avoid serious consequences, how to handle alcohol-related emergencies, and how to help others who struggle with alcohol misuse.
